Pete Chambers

Podiatrist

Pete graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Podiatric Medicine from the University of Northampton. He is a member of the College of Podiatry and Health & Care Professions Council and holds additional entitlements to administer local anaesthesia for minor surgery and for the sale and supply of prescription only medicines.

His research on the relationship between static and dynamic dorsiflexion of the first metatarsophalangeal joint gained him first prize from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in the 2020 Clinical Research Awards and he won the University of Northampton Canonbury sponsored Best Primary Research Project award in 2019.

He has a wide range of experience gained from time at the multidisciplinary diabetes foot clinic at Leicester General Hospital and vascular in-patients and diabetes out-patient clinic at Kings College Hospital, London as well as community podiatry services in Milton Keynes, South Warwickshire and Bedfordshire.

A Podiatrist’s aim is to keep people active, improve mobility, independence and the quality of life of their patients. It feels amazing to achieve that!

I have benefitted from podiatry care myself and was so amazed by the skilled, caring and compassionate approach of the profession that I chose to undertake the rigorous training to become a podiatrist myself.
Seeing people hobbling into the clinic with a problem and then skipping out!
It is important to look at the whole body. Foot and leg problems may arise from issues elsewhere in the body, ranging from underlying health problems, weaknesses in a muscle group or from the way in which we undertake simple every-day activities. Discussing and understanding the whole patient is key to resolving a problem.
Competing in triathlon and running 10K, half and full marathons. I’ve provided podiatric care to runners as part of the medical team at the London Marathon. Treating sports injuries is a particular interest.
Having Type 1 Diabetes himself, Pete specialises in diabetes care. He has worked with the charity Diabetes UK lobbying Central Government to recognise the importance of diabetic footcare.
